The time has come for things to change with Alsike and Hellebore. I’ve waffled on this decision for nearly two years and been mostly silent about my discontent with their status as Disturbed Nightmares for just as long. It’s time for them to become their own entities outside of the breed’s rules.

 

To that end, both are now considered dead as Disturbed Nightmares. You will note that their current references have been marked inactive. All past deviations featuring these two characters will remain posted for reference. In the next couple of weeks I will be going back over Alsike’s original incarnation as part of another character’s back story and using parts of it to rebuild both his and Hellebore’s history as they undergo a redesign. I am unsure how this will affect their relationships with the rest of the Ranch characters, but finding out is going to be part of the fun .

What this means for Alsike’s offspring;

Unless the ruling changes, this does not affect any of Alsike’s children other than Hellebore so long as they remain with the DN group. They will still be Disturbed Nightmares and Alsike is still considered their sire. Their points earned through Alsike's former status should also remain unchanged.

We understand that not every story can have it's fairytale ending, but every story does come to an end here, in the hills of Twin Peaks Ranch. Our elderly horses are afforded the dignified retirement they have earned through the years for as long as they will have it. They are kept in the series of connected pastures nearest the main house where the landscape is the flattest and have free access to insulated run-in barns year round. Those that are still able receive light exercise as often as their individual condition will allow.


Note: All breeding contracts made prior to retirement are still valid and the leases have the right to one foal out of each agreed upon breeding once payment in the form of a breeding image is completed.

Retirement Notes: After escalating troubles with attempts to get breedings to take Cricket was finally declared barren by the vet at the age of 16 and moved into retirement where she now has plenty of company to boss around.
